"Happy childhood, superior learning" is the motto of the Chinese YMCA Kwai Chung Kindergarten, a motto we strive to implement consistently, so that children love to learn from early on in childhood. The key is to learn happily. The implementation of the school's curriculum is planned to stimulate the potential of young children, attaching importance to the development of the child as a whole person. We aim to balance development of all aspects of intelligence, body, teamwork, and spirit, and above all, cultivate children's knowledge-seeking spirit. To encourage them above all else to be willing to learn, l to take care of themselves, and to establish their personality.
Focus on English learning:
All around the world, from 0 to 6 years old is the golden age of language development. In addition to our mother tongue, we expect students to learn English effectively and be interested in English. Therefore, the school attaches great importance to English learning, thus we have a 10-minute English Assembly every morning to allow children to try storytelling, sing-alongs, guided reading, real-life experience, show and tell, dancing, scientific experiment, etc. In addition to the morning meeting, there are English classes every day. We hope to provide more opportunities for students to expose to English, cultivate children's interest in English from an early age, and be willing to express and communicate.
Emphasis on Cultivation of Spiritual and Moral Education:
Every morning, our school will share Bible and moral stories with students, sing poetry, read Bible verses, and pray. Through the words of the Bible, students will learn to love our Heavenly Father and to be grateful for his boons.
Cultivate Children's Habit of Reading in Childhood:
"A love of reading will be useful for life". Our school is committed to promoting strong reading culture, and we hope that students will be happy to read. Therefore, we let students borrow books to take home every week, so that children can read at home, and encourage parents to make good use of social resources. Students can use our library to borrow books. As a reward to encourage students reading, we will provide them with small gifts from our special capsule machine, to encourage them to read consistently at home. Home reading is heavily encourage as part of the student-parent educational experience. This will enhance parent-child relationships.
Importance of Self-expression and Confidence:
We use Cantonese as our mother tongue for teaching. One of the characteristics of our school is that we provide children with the opportunity to discuss and report in groups during the theme time through our "Daily Question" activity, to inspire children's ability to think, reason and express language, and in doing so, develop students' self-confidence.
